“Sweetly low-key... Oscar-winning documaker Steven Okazaki does a resolute about-face with his second feature, THE LISA THEORY, a dollop of John Hughes-style teenage romantic angst beamed up into a hipper, early 20s stratosphere.”
An idiosyncratic cast populates THE LISA THEORY, a low-budget feature film about the perils of dating someone named Lisa. Filmmaker Steven Okazaki follows the rocky romantic trail of three punky roommates — Devon, Adam and Jimbo.
Devon (Devon Morf) loves Lisa (Honey O. Yates), but doesn't know relationships require effort. One morning, Lisa wakes up, jumps on a bus and disappears. Devastated, Devon vows to stay in bed until she returns. Three months later, he's still in bed, his band’s fallen apart, and his roommates want to kill him. That’s about the extent of the plot.
The film features music by a bevy of unforgettably fantastic, but sadly no-more, San Francisco-based bands - All You Can Eat, Ovarian Trolley, Clockbrains, Her Majesty the Baby, Wade and Less Is More, as well as Washington D.C.’s legendary Unrest.
